I Fell Off The (WRITING) Bandwagon!!!

Nope, nothing terrible happened to me!!!  I'm still here! :-)   I just fell off the bandwagon! I will write again soon and tell you why I had such a loooooong absence.  For now, here are some pictures...

Monday, July 14, I had another chemo treatment. I am done with treatments #6, 5, 4 and now finally number 3 is over too! That means I am 2/3rds done with chemo!  Yup...66.666% done.  As you can see, I settle in pretty well for the nearly all day sessions. The clear plastic tubing by my left arm is delivering the drugs.

Roger Maris Cancer Center (RMCC) is where I receive all my treatments.  They have been amazing. I am so glad we have access to such top notch medical care!

Here are some pictures Kristi took during the July 4th weekend. I didn't have one of Brody to include but will try to get him in the next set of photos.

Bob and Cindy brought our granddaughter, Olivia, in for breakfast one morning. She and I snuck off to the bedroom. When we came out, this is what we looked like. She has my wig on and I have a hat! Olivia is 14 months old and sooooo very sweet!

Olivia in my wig!

                                  Logan is my "Fuzzy Buddy!"
Logan got his hair cut for summer.  He was delighted to tell me that now he and Grandma were the same...we both have fuzzy heads!!! He loves to rub his head and then rub mine! Logan is 4 and is Kristi and Jeremy's son.

How could a Grandma say no to that charming smile?!?!?!?

    1. I am very happy to be 2/3 done!!! We have been enjoying summer as best as we can. Brody will be going to Westside where I taught for 20+ years so it will be great to have him there!

    1. Hi Sarah,
I have to thank Kristi for uploading all the pictures since I don't know how to do that part. It is fun to include pictures with my writing.
I hope you are getting a lot of free time this summer to recharge for those new "firsties" that are coming your way this fall!

    1. Hi Amber,
It was fun to hear from you! Trust me...you are working a LOT harder than I am this summer with your 3 kiddos. I'm sure you are doing lots of running with them each week!
As far as strong, thank you but I'd disagree. I am just dealing with what was given to me, just as anyone would do. :-)
      Much love to you too,
      Verna

  5. Verna, love the pictures of both you and your grandkids. I love seeing that you are having great times with the three of them. Grandkids, and kids in general, can divert ones thoughts during interaction with them. This will keep your treatment and healing positive. Take care!! Louise

    1. Hi Louise,
Yes, grandchildren definitely are an awesome diversion!!! I love every moment we spend with them!
I know you will enjoy your time in August with your "far-away" grandchild as much as we have enjoyed our little ones!!!!

  6. The pictures of the grandkids are great, and you look wonderful, too! We are enjoying our first Minnesota summer - just got back from a north shore trip. We went all the way from Duluth to Grand Portage with stops in-between. And before school starts back, there will be a trip "back home" to Memphis for a high school reunion. I think of you often, and love to read your blogs. Blessings! Shannon V.

    1. Thanks for the compliment, Shannon! It's pretty easy to get ready...just decide what color cap to wear! :-)
The North Shore is beautiful! We have been there a couple times and really enjoyed it.
Wow! I forget how far away from home you are!!! I hope you have lots of wonderful friendships to renew at your class reunion. Also, I hope you get to spend LOTS of time with family...that is the best!
Thanks for your thoughts and good wishes. I'm glad you like the blog and hope it is informative and NOT horribly boring!!!! :-)
